POLAND BREAK OUT TOUR – WARSAW & KRAKOW

Spend 5 days discovering the history of  Warsaw and Krakow

 

Day 1

Arrival at Warsaw airport and transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Warsaw.

 

Day 2

WARSAW – THE CAPITAL OF POLAND
City tour: The Royal Way. Welcome on the trip along the Royal Way, which links the Old Town with some of the most notable institutions in Warsaw. We walk from the Column of the King Zygmunt III Waza and the Royal Castle, which was built in the 14th century as a wooden fortress for the Dukes of Mazovia. Not far from this is the church of Saint Anna which was founded in the 15th century by the wife and mother of the Mazovian princes and named after her patron saint. If you want to see the panorama, you can climb the Bell Tower. Then our guide invites you for a walk along the difficult to pronounce Krakowskie Przedmieście Street.  This is one of the most impressive and prestigious streets of Warsaw. On the way you will see the Carmelite Church which has the earliest example of a classical facade in Poland, and many more interesting sites.  Afternoon: Traces of Chopin. Our guide will take you for a walk in a very attractive part of Warsaw and tell you about Saxon Palace, Kazimierz Palace, Czapski Palace. We will show you  the Sister of the Visitation Church, Miodowa Street, Krasiński Square, Saxon Post Office and many other places in relation to Chopin. Overnight in Warsaw.

 

Day 3

WARSAW – KRAKOW (295 km/3 h by train or 5 h by bus) 
Travel to Krakow , Krakow city tour. We walk to the amazing old town of Krakow: the Wawel Hill, the Royal Castle and the Coronation Cathedral, the burial place of kings and famous Poles, the Old Town surrounded by defense walls, the Barbican, the Market Square dominated by St. Mary’s Church with the famous XV c. linden wood altar, the Cloth Hall housing a multitude of souvenir shops and the Jagiellonian University, one of the oldest in Europe. Overnight in Krakow.

 

Day 4

KRAKOW – THE BEAUTIFUL HISTORY
Krakow. A special tour of Kazimierz.  Kraków’s Kazimierz is a special place, because it has been shaped by the close neighbouring co-existence of Christians and Jews that lasted for several centuries.The Jews came to Kazimierz in the 2nd half of the 14th century, and untill the first years of the 19th century they had lived there in the separate “Jewish town”. It was an autonomous enclave governed by rabbis and elected elders that recognised only the king’s supremacy held on his behalf by the Kraków voivode. Afternoon: private time. Optional:  Visit Wieliczka Salt Mine! This is the oldest working mine which is open for tourists in Europe. Salt was mined here since the 13th century. Almost 3000 chambers are connected by nearly 300 km of corridors. You can see a giant caverns, underground lakes, chapels with sculptures in the crystalline salt and rich ornamentation carved in the salt rock. Go into the largest and the most beautiful among underground chapels - Chapel of Saint Kinga… After this trip you will have no doubt why Wieliczka has already been on the UNESCO list for30 years. Overnight in Krakow.

 

Day 5

Leisure time, transfer to the airport for final departure.
