Day 1

Arrival at the airport. Transfer to the hotel.

 

Day 2

Stockholm- Gothenburg
Discover the "Beauty on water". Explore the old part of Stockholm, Gamla Stan with the Houses of Parliament, the Great Cathedral and cavernous Stockholm Palace. See the City Hall. Visit the Old Town and the famous Vasa Museum. Cruise to Gothenburg.

 

Day 3

Gothenburg - Trollhattan - Vanersborg 
Cruising from Gothenburg to the lock at Lilla Edet. Continue toTrollhattan locks. Explore the Canal Museum, located in a storehouse. See the old locks. Arrival in Vanersborg.Visit Algens Berg and the Royal Hunting Museum. Travel to the Hunneberg Royal Hunt Museum. 

 

Day 4

Vanersborg – Lacko Castle – Sjotorp – Hajstorp 
Cruising to Lake Vanern. Explore Lacko Castle that is a reminder of the reign of Magnus Gabriel de la Gardie.Travel to Sjotorp and the first lock on the Gota Canal. Explore the remains of the old shipyards. Continue to Godhogen-Hajstorp. Arrival in Hajstorp.

 

Day 5

Hajstorp – Toreboda – Tatorp – Karlsborg – Vadstena – Motala 
Cruising to Toreboda. Travel to the Berg Canal/the Obelisk, the highest point of that part of the canal. Continue toTatorp and Lake Viken. Travel to the Spetsnas Canal/Billstrommen. Enjoy the small lakes with water lilies. See osprey. The next stop is Forsvik lock. Go downwards to Karlsborg. Pass Karlsborg and its fortress. Get to Lake Vattern. Explore Vadstena, a small town famous for St. Birgitta. Take the sightseeing train to the Castle and Abbey church. Arrival in Motala. Visit the Motor Museum. Visit to von Platen’s grave.

 

Day 6

Motala – Borenshult – Borensberg – Berg – Klamman 
Cruising to Borenshult. Enjoy the nightingale's singing. Continue to Lake Boren and then to Borensberg. Get tothe Vastana Bend. See the Kungs Norrby, aqueduct. Go on to the Ljungsbro, aqueduct. Travel to Berg (Heda). Explore the convent of Vreta Kloster and the first nunnery in Sweden. Visit the church at Vreta Kloster. Walk to Vreta Kloster ruins and church. Continue to Berg. Proceed to Lake Roxen. Next is Norsholm lock, where the canal crosses the main railway line between Stockholm and Malmo. See Lake Asplangen. Arrival in Klamman.

 

Day 7

Klamman – Carlsborg – Mariehov – Duvkullen – Soderkoping – Mem – Savsundet
Cruising to Carlsborg–Mariehov–Duvkullen. Get to Soderkoping, an important spa town during the Hansa period. It also has a long and very interesting history as a spa. Try the famous local ice cream. Continue to Memand leave the Gota Canal. Enjoy the Baltic. Explore the ruins of the Stegeborg Fort. Arrival at Savsundet.

 

Day 8

Savsundet – Sodertalje – Birka – Stockholm 
Cruising to Sodertalje. Explore Sodertalje lock, the largest lock on the tour. Continue on to Lake Mälaren and then to the Viking community of Birka on the island of Bjorko.  See Drottningholm Castle and home of the Royal family. Get to Hammarby lock. Arrival in Stockholm and the Old Town of Stockholm.

 

Day 9

Transfer to the airport.
