Day 1

Sevilla
Arrival at the airport and transfer to Antequera.

 

Day 2

Antequera
Today visit Old Quarter of town with its whitewashed streets, fine churches and castle and the only bullring in Spain with a restaurant. Rest of the day is free for leisure. Overnight.

 

Day 3

Antequera – Lucena (53km)
Leave Antequera and cycle through gently rolling countryside and olive plantations to the village of Lucena where you will spend the night. The town is known in medieval times as the “Pearl of the Three Cultures” (Jewish, Christian and Arab) and is famous for its tapas. Overnight in Lucena.

 

Day 4

Lucena – Cordoba (57km)
Today’s ride takes you from Lucena, through the vineyards of Montilla-Moriles, down into the valley of the River Guadalquivir, and on to the city of Cordoba, jewel in the crown of the Kingdom of al-Andalus. Spend the afternoon visiting the delightful Judería, the old Jewish Quarter, and the renowned Mosque of Cordoba. Overnight.

 

Day 5

Cordoba – Zuheros (48km)
Leave Cordoba and drive through the countryside towards the Parque Natural de la Sierra Subbética. The wheat fields of Cordoba are replaced by olive plantations, stretching as far as the eye can see. Finally arrive at the incredible Moorish village of Zuheros with its 9th century castle perched high above the surrounding countryside and with the backdrop of the Sierra Subbética. Overnight.

 

Day 6

Zuheros - Aldea de Zagrilla (34km)
Today is a shorter route that takes us around the Parque Natural to the next stop in the village of Aldea de Zagrilla, near Priego de Cordoba. Priego de Córdoba has a fine medieval Moslem quarter and is known as the capital of the Cordoba baroque style due to its several fine churches dating from this period. Aldea de Zagrilla is a small village situated amidst the olive groves. Overnight.

 

Day 7

Aldea de Zagrilla – Montefrio  (54km)
From Aldea de Zagrilla begin the final leg of our journey towards Granada. Pass through the lovely village of Montefrío, dominated by its 15th century church built after the town was reconquered by the Catholic Monarchs in 1486. Visit Fuente Vaqueros, birthplace of the famous poet and playwright Federico García Lorca, born in 1898 and tragically assassinated at the beginning of the Civil War. Overnight.

 

Day 8

Montefrio – Granada (66km)
Cycle to the pretty town of Granada. After arrival you will be Oriented around the intersection of Gran Via de Colon and Calle Reyes Catolicos, Granada's  historic center and bustling heart of the city has  many shops, restaurants, bars and attractions situated along narrow cobblestone and brick alleys as well as many serene plazas. Walking through you're sure to take in the sights, smells and sounds of superb architecture, good food, and pleasant conversations among residents.

 

Day 9

Granada
Transfer to the airport.
