Day 1

Paris
Arrival at Paris airport and transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Paris.

 

Day 2

Paris – Vezelay – Dijon
Start the day with stop at the town of Vezelay to visit the impressive Saint Madeleine basilica, masterpiece of Burgundian Romanesque architecture, from where Richard the Lionheart departed for the 3rd crusade.Another stop at Abbaye de Fontenay – a cistercian abbey and then stop for a wine tasting of the white wines of Chablis. Continue to Dijon, former ducal capital and now capital of Burgundy. Walking tour of the city upon arrival including the Ducal Palace and the the church of Notre Damme. Overnight in Dijon.

 

Day 3

Dijon - Beaune
Full day excursion to Beaune – the wine capital of Burgundy.Visit the Hotel Dieu,eloquent example of Flemish and flamboyant architecture. Then, return to Dijon with a stop en route at Nuits Saint Georges for a wine tasting. Overnight in Dijon.

 

Day 4

Dijon - Colmar
There will be a long  drive to Colmar via Belfort and then an afternoon city tour of Colmar to see the old city with its cobbled pedestrian malls and restored alsatian-style buildings. Overnight in Colmar.

 

Day 5

Colmar - Strasbourg
Start by exploring the oldest known wine route in the world - stop in Kayserberg,a charming little village, Requewihr the most visited Alsatian village reputed for its vineyards and Ribeauville for Wine tasting. Proceed to Kintzheim,visit the Château du Haut-Koenigsbourg a stronghold housing middle-age collections and furniture.Overnight in Strasbourg.

 

Day 6

Strasbourg
Half day tour of the city where the whole centre is classified as a world heritage site. Visit the famous Cathedral ,see the Palais Rohan, former residence of Bishop Princes. Stop at Petite France.  Optional -  a guided cruise on the Ile river. Overnight in Strasbourg.

 

Day 7

Strasbourg - Reims
Departure for the Champagne area with a first stop at Eperney – the capital of Champagne wine. Wine tasting at Mumm,  Moet et Chandon or some other world famous cave and then proceed to Reims for a city tour covering a visit to Notre-Dame cathedral where the harmonious marriage of sculptural decoration with architecture has made this monument one of the masterpieces of Gothic art. Overnight in Reims.

 

Day 8

Reims
Transfer to Paris airport for final departure.
