Armenia the Special Vol 2

 

Day 1

Yerevan
Arrival at the airport. Transfer to the hotel.

 

Day 2

Yerevan - Khor Virap - Noravank (80km/1h30min) - Areni - Yerevan (110km/1h30min)
The tour starts with a travel to Khor Virap. Enjoy the spectacular view of the sacred Ararat Mountain, an immortal symbol of Armenia. Continue to Noravank monastery, situated among amazing sheer brick red cliffs. Travel to Areni. See the church of XIV and taste the famous Areni wine. Back to Yerevan.

 

Day 3

Yerevan - Ejmiatsin (70km/1h) - Zvartnots (60km/1h) - Yerevan
Departure to Ejmiatsin. Visit the churches of 3 Virgins: church of St Hripsimeh, domical basilica of St Gayaneh and church of Shoghakat. The Cathedral of Ejmiatsin is an official residence of Armenian Catholicos. Continue to Zvartnots, a Temple of Vigil Forces of XI century. Back to Yerevan.

 

Day 4

Yerevan - Tegher monastery - Hayravank monastery (110km/1h30min) - Dilijan (60km/1h)
Travel to explore the Tegher monastery. Visit the Sevan peninsula and the popular Hayravank monastery. Transfer to the famous resort of Dilijan. Enjoy an excursion through the Nature Reserve of Dilijan.

 

Day 5

Dilijan - Haghartsin monastery - Haghpat monastery 100km/1h30min - Sanahin monastery - Yerevan 150km/2h30min
Excursion to Haghartsin monastery, a great cultural and spiritual center of the region in the XII century. Continue to Haghpat monastery. Explore the major churches of the complex, vestibule, book depository, the bell-tower and refectory. Travel to the marvellous monastery of Sanahin. See a house-museum of the Mikoyan brothers. Back to Yerevan.

 

Day 6

Yerevan - Matenadaran - Oshakan - Moughni monastery - Saghmosavank monastery - Yerevan
Explore the Museum of ancient manuscripts Matenadaran. Continue to Oshakan village, considered an open-air museum. See Saint Mashtots churches, the monument to the perished in the battle of Oshakan, the monument to the Armenian alphabet. Continue to Moughni monastery complex. Excursion to Saghmosavank monastery, famous for its unique library and architectural phenomenon. Back to Yerevan.

 

Day 7

Yerevan - Monastery of Talin 70km/1h - Arutch monastery - Mastara - Yerevan 70km/1h
Travel to Talin monastery. Explore many noble medieval monuments, churches, khachkars. Excursion to Arutch monastery. Continue to Mastara and Surb Hovhannes (Saint John) temple, built in the 6th century. Back to Yerevan.

 

Day 8

Yerevan
See Garni and Geghard monuments, a part of UNESCO Heritage list. Explore the spring-memorial to the Greatest Armenian poet Eghishe Charents.  Enjoy a city tour of Yerevan. Visit the Republic Square, the Opera House, the Parliament, the Cascade. Visit to Tsitsernakaberd Memorial and Museum of the Armenian Genocide of 1915.

 

Day 9

Yerevan
Transfer to the airport.
