SWITZERLAND THE CLASSIC

 

DAY 1

Arrival at the airport. Transfer to the hotel.

 

DAY 2

Zurich – Vaduz (Liechtenstein) (100km./1h.) – St. Moritz (80km./1h.)
The tour in the financial center of Switzerland starts with a walk in the Old Town with its narrow streets, along the riverside. Find baroque guild houses that tell their own version of the city's past. Get to Lindenhof, the hill in the heart of the old town. Enjoy a beautiful view of the city and one time location of a Roman fort.Visit Grossmünster, an old Romanesque church, symbol of reformed Zurich. Have a walk along one of the busiest and best known shopping streets in the world, Bahnhofstrasse. Visit typical chocolate confectionaries and enjoy the perfect taste of the Swiss delight. Continue to Vaduz, Liechtenstein. Admire the most beautiful valley in the world, with deep-blue lakes, airy larch forests, mountain peaks exceeding 12,000 feet, and quaint white stone villages in the typical Grisons style. Departure to St. Moritz.

 

DAY 3

St. Moritz – Lugano (180km./3h.)
Have a walk in one of the best-known vacation spots in Europe. Enjoy the bubbly "champagne atmosphere" as legendary as the St. Moritz sun. Departure to the resort town of Lugano, which offers palm trees, picturesque boulevards, stunning views of the lake and the Alps.

 

DAY 4

Lugano – Zermatt (240km./4h.)
Admire Lake Lugano and the surrounding wooden mountains. Explore the natural and wild landscapes. The narrow band between the mountain and the lake is punctuated by colourful villages and  superb villas framed by magniolias and pink bay-trees. Departure to Tasch and get a train to Zermatt.  Enclosed between steep mountain escarpments, it is dominated by the huge and gracefully curved pyramid of the Matterhorn.

 

DAY 5

Zermatt - Lake Geneva (230km./3h.) – Gruyères (120km./1h.30min.)
Ride Europe’s highest rack-railway going to Gornergrat. Admire the majestic view of the Alps. Depart for the picturesque Lake Geneva. Enjoy the most beautiful views of any waterway. Continue to Gruyeres, See how they make the famous cheese.

 

DAY 6

Gruyères – Berne (60km./1h.) – Interlaken (60km./1h.)
Departure to the capital, Berne. Enjoy a wonderful view of Berne from The rose garden, a Mecca for flower lovers. Continue through the beautifully preserved medieval Old Town, built on a narrow hill surrounded on three sides by the Aare River. Explore Switzerland's tallest cathedral as well as other churches, bridges and a large collection of Renaissance fountains. See the Clock Tower, one of the most famous sights of Bern. Departure to Interlaken.

 

DAY 7

Interlaken
Admire the Jungfrau massif that contains some of Switzerland’s most dramatic mountain scenery.  The triad of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau might be said to dominate the scene. Enjoy a walk along Hoheweg, Interlaken's main street. Cross the bridge over the water and continue to Unterseen, a small old town. Enjoy the peace and tranquility.

 

DAY 8

Interlaken – Alpnachstad (60km./1h.) - Mt. Pilatus - Lucerne
Departure to Alpnachstad. Enjoy a ride on the worlds steepest cog railway. Get to the top of the beautiful Mount Pilatus, 2132 m. Admire the picturesque views and relax. Back to Alpnachstad and departure to Lucerne.

 

DAY 9

Lucerne
The tour starts by going to the Lion of Lucerne, a sculpture in Lucerne, "the most mournful and moving piece of stone in the world." Enjoy a walk in the Old Town, a cluster of medieval houses, with Mühlenplatz, Weinmarkt, Hirschenplatz and Kornmarkt forming an ensemble of cobbled, fountained squares ringed by colourful facades. Get to the famous Chapel Bridge, said to be the oldest wooden bridge in Europe. Continue to the Jesuit church, the first large baroque church built in Switzerland north of the Alps. Explore the famous Swiss watch shops. Enjoy a cruise on the fjord-like lake.

 

DAY 10

Transfer to the Zurich airport.
